About
DaRico Jackson
The Hair Master
It all started when…
For over three decades, celebrity stylist, DaRico Jackson’s
commitment to the culture and creativity in the hair care industry has allowed
him endless opportunities for advancement in his professional portfolio.
With the support of his mother, DaRico identified an
interest in styling hair; so it was no surprise when he detoured from traditional
educational avenues—leaving Dillard University behind to attend The Academy of
Scientific Hair Design. He then went on to attend The National Academy of
Beauty Arts with special studies under the scientific educational system of
Redken.
When DaRico opened the ultra lavish, Fusion Salon in his
home town, St. Louis, Missouri—after venturing away from hair care for a short
stint—he created a cult of clients who filled his books with standing appointments
for months in advance, and secured a waiting list of people eagerly awaiting
the chance to enjoy the electrifying experience known as DaRico Magic.
DaRico continued cultivating his craft, building his brand,
and networking with other professionals for over a decade when he secured a
chance to serve as Shaquille O’Neal’s personal and commercial stylist in Los
Angeles. He’d fly back and forth between assignments with Shaq, while keeping
his standing schedule with his high-profile clients at Fusion Salon.
Eventually his gifted abilities were commissioned in
California, and DaRico forced himself out on faith with a focus on not only
bettering his brand, but also bettering the entire hair care community.
Upon landing in LA, with nothing but a plan to prosper in
this new territory, DaRico quickly became a top stylist at the iconic Elgin
Charles Salon in Beverly Hills, where he grew his clientele while training
other stylists and simultaneously securing editorial bookings through his agent
at The Crystal Agency.
During this time, he was booked to ensure editorial
excellence for publishing powerhouses including: Italian Vogue, Harper’s
BAZAAR, Foam, Zink, People Magazine, XXL, Sophisticate’s Black Hair. But it wasn’t until he was booked to create a
style to fit character, Angela (played by Tasha Smith), in “Why Did I Get
Married?” that his career as a celebrity stylist catapulted.
From there, DaRico was behind the most brilliant styles in
Hollywood, sprinkling DaRico Magic all through the most important moments of the
careers of Hollywood’s brightest stars including: Nia Long, Vivica Fox, Angela
Bassett, Wendy Davis, Paula Abdul, Rochelle Aytes, Michael Ealy, Tia Mowery,
Tisha Campbell, Tischina Arnold, Naturi Naughton, Victoria Summer, Lynn Whitfield,
Meagan Good, Angela Simmons, Tamara Bass, Cassandra Freeman, Valarie Pettiford,
Telma Hopkins, Draya Michelle, Kyla Pratt, Elise Neal, Keyshia Cole, and Niecy
Nash.
Teyonah Parris’s 2015 Emmy hairstyle swept the press and
landed a DaRico original on the Vogue.com website.
His ever-expanding portfolio, experience, and education
opened his eyes to endless options, so he immersed himself in the education,
art, science, and secrets of the hair care industry. Before and during his status as a celebrity stylist,
DaRico began working with various brands to educate and empower other stylists
to stay ahead in the hair care industry.
After DaRico was honored to have the role of Regional
Designer for Sebastian International’s Advanced Education Program, his work was
reviewed on a global level. Throughout his exceptional career, brands such as
Johnson Products: Sensitive By Nature; AFAM Concept: Vital Product Line; Luster
Product: Essentials; Elgin Charles Products; and L’Oreal: Mizani offered him
opportunities to platform that would help him professionally prosper while
masterfully maneuvering himself into a prominent position with industry
executives.
in his role at L’Oreal: Mizani, DaRico quickly became the
educational lead for his team, and within two years he landed the role of
haircut designer for the complete L’Oreal family where he would create and
design five unique styles, facilitate the education for the haircuts which
included everything from diagramming to demonstrating for the core team who
would then instruct the educational team. The team would then teach his styles
to the world.
He continued that position until he was offered the
opportunity to serve as the Brand Ambassador for ORS, where he worked for a
year before joining the Clairol family where his work is currently featured for
the brand’s Textures and Tones collection nationwide.
Today, DaRico Jackson is a creative artist with a
comprehensive collection of styles in his prominent portfolio. Still striving
to better his craft, he’s preparing to captivate hair-enthusiasts on a global
level, sprinkling DaRico Magic on the industry, one head at a time.
